ATTOCK, Dec 21: Member of National Assembly from Islamabad Mian Mohammad Aslam has said even after the adoption of the amended constitution bill, the MMA will not join the government.

Talking to this correspondent here, Mian Aslam said the alliance would continue to sit on the opposition benches. He termed President Gen Pervez Musharraf’s U-turn on Kashmir policy disastrous and a serious setback to the geo-political and security interests of the country.

He said Pakistan was incomplete without Kashmir and right to self-determination should be given to the Kashmiris according to the UN resolution.

He expressed concern over the detention of three scientists for interrogation, and condemned the removal of Ghauri missile models.

He said Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali’s decision of ceasefire on the Line of Control (LoC) had given an opportunity to the Indian forces to erect a barbed wire on the 761-km long LoC.

All these steps show that the rulers might rollback the country’s nuclear programme, he added.

He said as an institution, “we respect the army and believe that only one general has occupied the country by suspending the constitution”.

Replying to a question about the statement of ARD leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim that MMA had lost its claim of being a major opposition alliance, he said the ARD had its own political strategy while the MMA had its unique political line of action.
