KARACHI: Chief of Zikri body shot dead

KARACHI, Dec 21: President of the Zikri Anjuman was shot dead by unknown persons in Lyari on Sunday night.

Police said that Abdul Ghani, 60, was travelling in his car driven by his son Arif when three men on a motorcycle opened fire at the car near Crown Cinema in the Kalri police limits.

Mr Ghani suffered a bullet wound and was rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre by his son in the same car. However, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The victim was a resident of DHA Phase-6 and was returning home after visiting someone in Kalri. Police said the victim was also a retired government official.

In another incident, body of a woman was recovered in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Sunday night from a dug-up portion of ground along a water pipeline in Block-1.

Till the filing of this report the woman could not be identified. Her body was shifted to the JPMC for the postmortem examination.

WOMAN KILLED: A woman was shot dead by her husband in Orangi Town on Sunday night.

Pirabad police said that Rozina, 32, was shot dead by her husband Izatman and brother- in-law in their house in Frontier Colony Orangi Town.

The two suspects fled from the spot and the victim died before she could be shifted to the hospital.

Police said that some three days ago, the woman was arrested from a brothel along with some others. She was out on bail when she was shot dead by her husband. Her body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for the postmortem examination.
