SHIKARPUR, Dec 21: A meeting to resolve the dispute over electricity bills outstanding against the district government was held here on Saturday.

The meeting was presided over by District Nazim Mohammad Arif Mahar and attended by the district officer, revenue, Hesco, Asadullah Mughal and others.

The Hesco official claimed that Rs15.4 million was outstanding against the district government and Rs116 million were yet to be paid by the Lakhi, Garhi Yasin, Khanpur and Shikarpur taluka councils.

The Nazim raised objection to the amount claimed by Hesco and said that Rs4.3 million demanded by it were in excess of the actual amount.

Lakhi Taluka Nazim Imran Mahar, Garhi Yasin Taluka Nazim Najaf Kamario and Shikarpur Taluka Nazim Agha Amjadullah Pathan also raised objections to the amount claimed by the power company against their respective councils.

They informed the meeting that Rs37 million was already paid by the taluka councils against the electricity bills.
