KARACHI, Dec 20: Senior citizens can apply for computerized ID cards through manual forms, which can be submitted by some relative or representative on their behalf at any Nadra office, while a blood relation or any representative, with an authority letter, can collect their cards.

According to a Nadra press release issued on Saturday, around 26 swift registration centres were working in the metropolis daily, including Sundays.

It said that approximately 63 per cent (4,075,962) citizens had so far applied for CNICs out of the total 6,467,321 eligible Karachiites, while the Nadra had prepared 3,885,055 CNICs so far, of which 3,529,146 cards had been delivered to the applicants and 190,907 CNICs were in different stages of preparation.

The Central Distribution Centre (CDC) of the authority in Karachi had so far issued 438,121 CNICs, while 340,286 CNICs were available for issuance at the centre, it added.

The press release quoted Nadra Chairman Brig Saleem Moin as saying that the expiry date of Dec 31 for old manual ID cards would not be extended, and it was also misperception that Nadra would not prepare computerized ID cards after the cut-off date.
