GUJRANWALA, Dec 19: The bail application of an MPA, his father and brother involved in a murder case was referred to trial court after extension given to interim bail till Dec 24 by a single bench of the Lahore High Court, on Friday.

The court also ordered the accused to deposit surety bonds of Rs100,000 each.

According to reports, PML-Q MPA Mudassar Qayyum Nahara, his brother Mazhar Nahara and father Sultan Ahmad were booked by Naushera Virkan police on the charge of killing local market committee vice-chairman Iftikhar Ahmad two months ago.

However, the MPA and his brother got interim bail from the district and sessions judge, but did not pursue it. As a result, the court discharged the bail application.

Meanwhile, the heirs of the deceased demanded the police that they should arrest the accused. Subsequently, the MPA, his brother and father got an interim bail from the LHC.

SHOT DEAD: A travel agency agent of Lahore was shot dead by robbers during an abortive bid at Bihari Colony, on Friday.

Reports said Agha Ajmal, son of Agha Tajamal Husain, came to the colony to attend the marriage ceremony of his nephew, Ayaz Ahmad. He was on his way back home by his car when three armed men signalled him to stop, but he accelerated the speed.

The armed men opened fire on Ajmal, killing him on the spot. Later, the police handed over his body to his heirs without any autopsy.

UNCONSCIOUS: At least half a dozen members of a family fell unconscious after taking lassi at Kamoki, on Friday.

Reports reaching here said farmer Iftikhar Ahmad’s family prepared lassi and fell unconscious after taking it.
