PESHAWAR: Police on Monday recovered bodies of a young man and a woman, who were allegedly shot dead in an apparent case of honour killing, in the limits of Regi police station on the outskirts of the capital city.

A relevant police official told Dawn that the bodies were found from fields in Regi, which is close to Mullagori area of Khyber Agency.

The official said that both the slain were residents of Mustajab Ghari locality of Mathra. He said that the woman was married.

He said that both of them had eloped sometimes back and were booked under sections 365-B of the Pakistan Penal Code, which deals with kidnapping a woman and forcing her to marriage, at the Mathra police station. The official said that the slain were arrested and spent some time behind the bars and were released on bail recently.

He said that police had registered an FIR on the complaint of the slain woman’s father. However, he said that the complainant had not nominated anyone in his report. The police official said that it was not clear yet whether it was an honour killing.
