LAHORE, Dec 16: The Punjab government has decided to set up a chain of co-op stores in the province for sell essentials at low rates.
The co-op stores will be set up at all tehsil headquarters as paper work in this regard has been completed, Co-operatives Minister Malik Anwar told a meeting here on Tuesday to discuss a strategy in this regard.
Admitting that lack of patronage by the government had marred the performance of these stores in the past, he said it had been decided to reestablish them on modern lines so that a majority of the people could benefit from them.
He said educated and well-mannered staff would be appointed at the stores. Locally assembled electronic goods would also be sold at these stores, he added.
Mr Anwar urged the people to give their suggestions directly to him for making an effective strategy regarding the co-op stores.
