HYDERABAD, Dec 16: Residents of Goth Abdullah Chawaro, led by an elder of Brohi clan and general councillor of union council Morho Jabal, district Dadu, Haji Gul Muhammad Brohi, have accused Dadu police of highhandedness and appealed to the higher authorities and human rights organisations to take notice of police atrocities.
Speaking at a news conference at the local press club here on Monday, they said that on Sunday over 500 policemen of various police stations of Kotri taluka raided goth Abdullah Chawaro, cordoned off the entire area and, without any search warrants, ransacked 200 houses for the arrest of some criminal. They accused the police of violence against women and children.
Mr Brohi alleged that police took away an amount of Rs150,000 and licensed weapons from his house, four TV sets, two fridge, eight tape-recorder and other items from the houses of other villagers.
They, however, said that police could not find the wanted person but arrested a disabled boy, Gul Hassan Brohi and a student, Gul Muhammad Brohi.
They appealed to the authorities and human rights organisations to take notice of police excesses and restore justice.
