LAHORE: While Basit Ali, chairman of the junior selection committee, is accompanying the national women’s team currently touring New Zealand, the Pakistan Cricket Board on Wednesday announced the 15-member national junior squad for the ACC Youth U-19 Asia Cup to be played in Sri Lanka from Dec 13 to 24.

Nasir Nawaz was named captain of the squad while Ali Zaryab is his deputy.

Acting as head coach, Basit is with the women’s team, which early this week ended the tour of New Zealand on a dismal note losing all the five ODIs and the one-off T20. They will now proceed to Thailand to participate in the Asia Cup.

Surprisingly, Basit was appointed head coach of the women’s squad while the camp for finalising the U-19 male team was in progress in Multan.

Four reserve players and the team management were also announced for the Youth U-19 Asia Cup.

Squad:

Nasir Nawaz (captain), Mohammad Mohsin Khan, Abdullah Shafiq, Ali Zaryab (vice-captain), Zahid Alam, Mohammad Arif, Waqar Ahmed, Saad Khan, Azam Khan (wicket-keeper), Shaheen Shah, Mohammad Husnain, Moosa Khan, Ibrar Zaman, Umar Khan, Mansoor Ali.

Reserve players:

Alamgir Khan, Farhan Shafiq, Mohammad Saleem, Hidayatullah.

Team management:

Nadeem Khan (manager), Mansoor Rana (head coach), Abdul Rehman (assistant coach), Saboor Ahmed (trainer), Usman Ghani (physio), Zubair Ahmed (analyst).
