KARACHI: National champion Mohammad Bilal has won back-to-back matches in the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) World Snooker Championship which is in progress at Doha.
According to results made available here, he opened his account while brushing aside Germany’s Felix Frede 4-1 (84-15, 123-8, 87-1, 22-62, 86-1) and then went on to whip Qatar’s Mohsen Bukshaisha 4-2 (62-71, 84-13, 67-19, 33-60, 64-63, 60-35) to strengthen his position in the group.
Bilal’s two other compatriots – Mohammad Asif and Babar Masih – also conjured up their second straight victories in their respective groups.
While the former world champion Asif handed a straight 4-0 defeat to Bahrain’s Hesham Alsaqer with the scores being 73-0, 62-38, 74-9, 71-41 the latter conceded a frame on way to registering an emphatic 4-1 victory over Japan’s Tetsuya Kuwata 31-81, 82-40, 63-26, 59-48, 86-0.
Former Pakistan No 1 Imran Shehzad and Naveen Perwani also maintained their unbeaten run registering second successive victories in the masters’ category.
Mohammad Azhar Khan, who has surprised many veteran cueists, while getting the nod of the game’s controlling body for the sojourn without playing any national ranking event in the past, has also won his opener in the master’s.
