Cinema manager booked for power theft

GUJRANWALA, Dec 15: A joint raiding team of the Wapda military intelligence and Gepco on Monday raided Al-Khayam Cinema in Ghakkhar town and caught red-handed its manager while stealing electricity for commercial and domestic purposes.

The raiding team recovered equipment, removed the meter and issued heavy detection bill. Tariq Yousaf was found getting power supply directly from the main transmission line.

The raiding team also got registered an FIR against the cinema manager.

Meanwhile, another joint team of the police and district administration raided a cinema house in Garjakh and caught its manager Ghaur Ahmad for screening porno movies.

However, the cinema operator and other staff managed to escape from the scene. The raiding team recovered porno movies from his custody.

A case has been registered against the manager.

EMPLOYMENT: The City Tehsil Council provided jobs to 18 youths, the sons of deceased employees, on the directive of the Punjab government while City Nazim Babu Javed Ahmad issued appointment letters to them here on Monday.

The City Tehsil Council could not provide jobs to the sons of their 18 employees, died during the last few years, on account of a ban on the recruitment. However, on the recommendation of the City Tehsil Council, the Punjab government approved their recruitment as a special case.

PROTESTED: Dwellers of Baghbanpura, Gurunanicpura, Tower Chowk and Totianwala on Monday strongly protested against the Wasa authorities for their failure to rectify the water supply motor even after a fortnight.

They said that the residents were facing hardships due to acute shortage of water and demanded immediate repair of the motor.
