LARKANA, Dec 15: Around 20 million people are living with iodine deficiency in the country and the highest percentage of iodine deficient people is found in Lahore, which is 81.

This was disclosed by Sindh deputy nutrition focal person Dr Qamaruddain Memon while speaking at a one-day media workshop at the Chandka Medical College Hospital here on Saturday.

Dr Memon said 60 per cent women, 20 to 30 per cent children and 10 per cent men were iodine deficient in the country.

He said latest surveys revealed that Mithi, Nara, certain parts of Ghotki, Choondiko (Khairpur), Chotyaroon (Sanghar) and the Khirthar range of mountains in Sindh were the locations where the population was facing the IDD.
