KARACHI, Dec 14: Thousands of candidates appeared in the written tests, simultaneously held in Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur on Sunday for 752 lecturer posts, which have been lying vacant in Sindh Education department.

Provincial Education Minister Irfanullah Marwat, on the occasion reiterated the government’s commitment that merit would be the sole criterion to fill the said posts.

He said neither any recommendation, nor any illegal method adopted by candidates would be tolerated.

Meanwhile, the minister also visited the examination centre in Sukkur this morning, a handout said, mentioning that Mr Marwat directed the officials concerned to take stringent action against the candidates found using illegal means, also warning department officials of disciplinary action if any of them offered undue help to any candidate during the test.

He was informed that 700 candidates had appeared for test at Sukkur centre.

Karachi centre was visited by Sindh Education Secretary Ghulam Ali Pasha no Sunday. Some 3,800 male and female candidates were registered for the test here.

A team of invigilators, comprising Sindh Additional Education Secretary Karim Baksh Sorohi, DEO Colleges, Prof Rais Alvi, DEO Schools, Anwar Ahmed Zai and Sumaira Sohail from CMB, along with other officials of the department, also visited the centre.
