PESHAWAR: Homage paid to Fatima Jinnah

PESHAWAR, Dec 14: A Mushaira (poetry recital) was held here on Sunday to pay homage to Fatima Jinnah.

More than 20 poets recited their poems and couplets to pay commemoration to the strong lady for her meritorious services during the Pakistan Movement.

Poet Ahmad Faraz was the chief guest and the event was organized by the provincial cultural department at the Zubair Mir Hall of the press club.

Host Prof Nasir Ali Syed recited a ghazal to open the event. Bushra Farrukh, author of two books, before paying poetic tributes to Ms Jinnah, read her fresh ghazal.

Sajjad Babar, Akmal Naeem, Hassam Khur, Qudsia Qudsi, Tariq Ansari, Sarfaraz Shahid, Nazir Tabassum, Dr Fazal Din Majboor Khattak, Prof Mohammad Taha Khan, Mushtaq Shabab, Anjum Yousafzai, Prof Aslam Saifi, Qasim Hasrat, Ghulam Ahmad Shah, Yousaf Raja Cheshti, Amjad Behzad, Younas Qiasi, Mohsin Ihsan and Khatir Ghaznavi took part in the Mushaira.

Last was Ahmad Faraz, who didn’t recite more poetry as the people had expected from him. Even then, his every couplet was listened by the participants with a greater deal of interest.
