Nisar awards cash prize to ASI Farzana, the officer who 'assaulted' female PTI worker

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday announced a Rs50,000 cash prize for ASI Farzana of Islamabad Police for her exemplary professional behaviour during the PTI protest on Thursday in the federal capital.

The interior minister also awarded ASI Farzana with a commendation certificate for performing her duties professionally.

He also praised the exemplary professional behaviour shown by the woman police officer, read a statement issued by interior ministry.

ASI Farzana had suffered minor bruises while performing her duty during a scuffle between police and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) workers on Thursday in Islamabad.

According to media reports, the PTI workers had accused Farzana of "assaulting" a female PTI worker.

Farzana in her video message described the incident in following words: "Female worker of PTI was trying to hit male police officers with a big stone when I tried to stop her. She attacked me and gave me bruises on my face and neck."

"If I had not stop her from throwing that stone, she would have injured someone," she maintained.

Female PTI worker Seemabia Tahir, when stopped from fighting with ASI Farzana, had said: "I am daughter of an army officer, you will bear the circumstances and you will remember that you messed with a PTI supporter."

However, in another video message released on Saturday, Seemabia Tahir said: "I am being blamed for torturing a police constable, it was not intentional and all I did was in my self defence."

All such statements for "PRESS" or to gain public sympathy will NOT help on the day or reckoning. So FEAR the day of Judgement when no one will be help to each other!

Government is very eager to give rewards and over zealous to protect its power. But unable to protect ordinary people - like the carnage in Quetta earlier this week. The Police college itself was not safe from the attackers. And here one person is getting rewarded for assaulting another female!

Irony! A male Police guard slugs a female TV reporter, (albeit, provoked) at a Nadra office in KPK, and everyone condemns the Reporter for her behavior. Here a female police officer is being rewarded for slugging a female civilian. No one bothers to find out what happened to the injured party!?

@Adnan whole nation is awake, seems you guys only sleeping and not realizing the ground situation. I am not against ASI, but the way she has been praised is a very immature act by the home minister. Hundreds of police Jawans have given their life in fight against terror. I never see that home minister praised anyone of them in such a swift manner. It's a mere dirty politics and using police for personal gain by NS and his team.

Being a daughter of Army officer does not give a right to assault a police officer. Why she was not arrested, If it happened in any other country, she could not stay free to make more threats to law officers. unfortunately in Pakistan some people are immune to law and police is afraid to touch them.

Correct decision to award Farzana for doing her job in the most professional way. Sitting here in West and watching police handling both Men and women equally, I wonder how much difficult is police work in Pakistan especially for male officers, law and culture tie their hands at their backs and ask to perform their duties. I salute police patience.

a very good decision from government to support the lady police officer. PTI worker was carrying large stone in hand which can cause trauma to any one. Police officer was injured while PTI worker did not get any scratch or bruises. well done by the lady police officer.

Salute to this Lady Police Officer. I do not support Nawaz shareef but I am totally against what Imran khan is doing. He is behaving like King. You can not enforce your decision on others by locking down Islamabad. You can do Dharna or protests but can not lock down city. The matter is in court and let the court decide.
