DADU, Dec 12: The Zila Nazim Dadu, Malik Asad Sikandar has said that he was not consulted while initiating development schemes at Gorakh Hill station and as a result he had lodged complaints with the Federal and Sindh governments in this regard.

Talking to a group of journalists at his office here on Friday, he said that these schemes should be carried out under the supervision of Pakistan Army engineering wing. He also demanded that water supply scheme and widening of road from Wahi Pandhi to zero point of the Gorakh Hill station should be completed immediately.

He deplored that previously the schemes were only shown on papers and no work undertook in real terms.

However, he added that the ongoing schemes of Gorakh Hill station would not be stopped due to negligence of local bureaucracy.

Talking about the shortage of irrigation water in different waterways, he alleged that local irrigation officials were selling water to the influentials which had affected wheat crop in Dadu, Johi and Sehwan talukas.

Answering a question about flour crisis, the Zila Nazim said that Sindh Chief Minister should take immediate steps to end flour crisis in the district adding that special quota of wheat should be sanctioned to chakkis and flour mills.

DCO: DCO Dadu, Aijaz Ahmed Mangi who is also Director General of Gorakh Development Authority, said on the occasion that special budget was released by Sindh chief minister for the resumption of schemes at the hill station. He said that out of 45 kilometres, work on 42 kilometres road was almost complete from Wahi Pandhi upto the zero point, rest of the road would be completed by the end of December this year. He said that amusement parks, hotels, rest house, police check posts and hospitals would also be constructed. He said that development work of Gorakh Hill station was in full swing which would be completed within the stipulated period.

Meanwhile, a large number of local inhabitants of different villages of taluka Johi staged a demonstration on the under construction Wahi Pandhi-Gorakh Hill road near Wahi Pandhi on Friday and stopped the work of the road.

They alleged that the road contractor was not recruiting local people as labour.

On the occasion, the manager of contractor assured the demonstrators that local people would be provided jobs.
