Naqvi’s release demanded

Published December 12, 2003

GILGIT, Dec 11: Activists of the outlawed Islami Tehreek Pakistan took out a protest procession here on Wednesday to condemn the arrest of Allama Sajid Ali Naqvi and demand his release.

The protesters said that they would kick off their agitation campaign from Friday by holding a protest rally in Danyore on Karakoram Highway.

They said that they would extend their campaign to other Shia-dominated areas if authorities did not release their detained leader.

When contacted, an official of the Northern Areas Home Department said that they had made all arrangements to meet any untoward situation.
