ISLAMABAD, Dec 11: The Board of Directors of Pakistan Baitul Mal (PBM) has approved various amendments in its “Service and Financial Regulations” to bring them in consonance with the PBM Act 1991 as amended by the Ordinance 2002. The Board also approved different outstanding matters for incorporation and updating in the regulations.

All these decisions were made during the 40th meeting of PBM’s board of directors, which held here on Wednesday, with additional secretary of the ministry of women development, social welfare and special education, Syed Tariq Ali Bokhari, in the chair, said and official statement.

The participants of the meeting were told that in the coming two years 100 more National Centres for Rehabilitation of Child Labour (NCRCL) and one diversified centre in each district will be set up.

“So far, we have registered 6,240 students in NCRCL out of which 3,296 students have successfully completed their education at primary level. Amongst the passed out students 2,697 are now studying in the middle level”, the PBM managing director, Brig Sarfraz, told the meeting.

The Board of PBM also directed the PBM MD to launch another project for further training of passed out students of NCRCL in which these students would be given higher education as well as vocational training to stand on their own feet.

The meeting also reviewed the functioning of different on- going projects of PBM. “In Individual Financial Assistance, (IFA) scheme, PBM has achieved its targets by disbursing an amount to the tune of Rs20m; of this amount Rs7.5m, 1.6m, 2.6m, 1 million, 0.5m and 6.8m were disbursed in Punjab, NWFP, Sindh, Balochistan, ICT and head office, respectively to the poor in Ramazan”, the MD said.
