Imran thunders at Nawaz, declares PML-N party polls a mockery

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday hit back at Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's speech a day earlier, demanding a response to accusations of corruption levelled against the premier and his family after the Panama revelations.

PM Nawaz, addressing a gathering after the PML-N's intra-party elections on Tuesday said that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were looking for those who had promised them a new Pakistan.

“Today, the Instead of serving the people of their province, they are wasting time dancing on containers,” the premier said.

Imran Khan in Islamabad said that Nawaz had spoken about "everything except Panamagate" during his address.

"2018 [general election] is far away. He has to answer now on the Panama leaks," he said.

"Mian Panama Sharif, people will not forget your corruption," Imran thundered, accusing the premier of "making a mockery" of the party's polls.

"We cannot even hope for elections from them as Nawaz Sharif is running his political business like a dictator," he alleged. "The PML-N is mistaken if they think they can form a government in KP through rigging."

The PTI has announced a lockdown of Islamabad on November 2 in pursuance of the party's demand for the premier's 'resignation or accountability' following Panamagate.

However, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has summoned the PTI chief for a hearing the same day regarding a reference calling for disqualification of Imran Khan and senior PTI leader Jahangir Tareen.

When questioned about the hearing, Imran accused the ECP of siding with the PML-N in the 2013 general election. He added that the ECP and PML-N contested the 2013 elections together.

"ECP can do whatever it wants till 2pm on Nov 2. After that, there will be a tsunami of people," the PTI chief remarked.

Imran also alleged the PML-N government had concealed matters pertaining to the development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

He maintained the project is not being undertaken in a transparent manner, as it is not clear what the sources of loans were.

Who cares about orders of EC when in one breath PTI declares all institutions of Pakistan and billion of Pakistanis slaves illustrates and ignorant as they do not decide in their favor. One thing I hate is the way PTI addresses the people and institutes of Pakistan. I wonder how PTI will run this country will it import all from UK to run government? This is history of PTI that when they announce anything they never back out from their road shows and close all doors of communication which may lead to solution of that problem. IK held daily press conferences but never went to parliament on pretext of one thing or other and reason is same that in parliament you have to listen others and others have right to answer your accusation.

@Nomi Goraya Look my friend. Opposition and PTI has every right to protest against corruption. Luckily all opposition including PPP supported the TORs but PML N rejected it. Secondly the best way for NS was to go in parliament and show by proof that IK is wrong. He went to the Parliament but did not show any papers or proof. Instead started talking about his innocence. NS is the one who is wasting time of Nation. He sits around and let his so called ministers to defend him. I ask them why ministers are defending him??? Do they take our tax money to waster their time in defending NS personal corruption??? This is why its not democracy and truely is MONARCHY..

The question is simple - the money that went into a Panama company was it legitimate? Why NS offered himself for 'unaccountably' in his speeches if all he has done is dilly-dallying for 6 months - nothing on TORs in 6 months that Supreme Court rejected.

Parliament well so IK goes to Parliament and believes in it I think PTI even did not participated in joint session for Kashmir and IK did not represent PTI in all APC. In democratic system if your move is rejected in parliament then you debate and find solution there as far as IK is concerned he is more available and busy in press conferences and on road shows with speeches which at least makes no sense and with people like Rasheed, Tareen, Aleem and himself with names in same Panama papers. Why Ik does not start from home and set example of accountability why it is very important that NS should be first? Monarchy well I think PTI is one man show as it is all IK and its order when were intr party elections in PTI and what was outcome and what are the comments of their own EC and then one who was assigned to investigate the issues in those elections. Last why CM of KPK is always on container?

Sir if it SC which rejected TORS same SC has took up petition filed by PTI and JI and others on same issue why not to show some respect and wait for legal process to reach to some conclusion and to refresh you same SC disqualified sitting PM Yousuf Raza Gellani. If it is opposition parties then why now PTI is taking solo flight where are other opposition parities why PTI failed to convince them now? What to say about Parliament IK and PTI even boucotted joint session on unified cause of Kashmir to make headlines in India that Pakistan failed to build consensus on Kashmir. The reality is that PTI thinks they are good in some musical road shows and senseless speeches and they do it to be in news and keep their support charged no matter it comes at a big cost to Pakistan

Give proof to Parliament if he is not guilty, merely going to parliament and giving a long speech doesn't give him clean chit. He just sits around like a innocent baby and let his ministers talk on his behalf. This is not right my friend. If IK was doing same my answer would be the same for him also.

@Nomi Goraya They should all be investigated. Imran Khan has already offered himself for scrutiny. The forming of offshore company is not an issue, but the source of the fund and its non declaration is the main issue, which needs proper investigation is the main issue. Nawaz Sharif and family probably do not come clean on this matter and are therefore trying their level best not to be investigated and using parliament and the entire state machinery towards that end in defiance of the constitution of Pakistan.

Pakistan has to adopt corruption free system and powers to Local governments and no more dynasty rule.Most of the developing countries have already got rid of it and are progressing and Sharifs,Zardaris,Chaudries have to go out and end like Marcos,Qadhaffi,Phelvi etc.IK must take solo flight and people of this country are going to support him and even if he do not perform his fate will be same.

PTI is now exploiting the street power which it has at the cost of public. Practically PTI has created hurdles in the way of PML(N) government and gave them an excuse to say of failing to deliver. PTI is strengthening PML(N), which is evident from the bye elections. IK should not take the law in its hand or consider himself to make decisions. He should allow the institutions to decide and strengthening the institutions is more important then chasing an individual. IK entry in politics is good for democracy and must remain.

Some segment of the society is of the opinion , that Imran Khan is unnecessary crying and has no belief in institution. My opinion is a bit different and it matches Imran Khan. How can one kept quiet on corruption of billion ? It means if we let it going like this , it in fact will become Halal for the future. Corruption cuts the root of development. @Philosopher (from Japan) IK has never said he wants all of PMLN to go home and midterm elections called. As I understand, he has said nawaz should resign or present himself for accountability. He has even said tht if nawaz resigns another from pmln can become prime minsiter. I actually don't agree with this, he should not give an out for nawaz to resign and ride off with his millions. Demand should instead be that nawaz presents himself for accountability (something which nawaz had said he would anyway when he addressed the public six months ago) or the institutions should act to hold nawaz accountable on panama leaks.

If Nawaz is so clean why doesn't he come forward and prove that his children wealth is through legitimate sources. Yes corruption is true enemy of country and one must fight it there is no doubt about it the only problem is way to fight. Just with cool head give me answer that does mob of thousand have right to force the close down of elected government of billions? Just to elaborate little PTI to this point failed to win a single seat in any by election in Punjab and we have democracy where people and will of people rule. Sir come to a city and have close it and then all music shows and stupid speeches will it help to fight corruption ? About the democratic right sir to close a city is not right under any democratic system. About LAST option there are many ways available which may not be so good on camera but can result in some serious changes like SC like debate in Parliament which IK hates to attend

PM Nawaz Sharif has evaded TORs for last six months to investigate Panama secret accounts? Why? In any democracy, accountability of politicians and governments is normal. Either he presents himself for accountability, or step down. Someone else from PML can become prime minister till the next elections. Twice PPP prime ministers had to step down for corruption charges. No politician or political party can be above the law.

I recall he introduced some amendments to the benami law to strength it. Here is one law he tried to introduce that was not taken up : http://parliamentfiles.com/news/for-lawmakers-accountability-an-alien-concept/ Further, IK has made at least two speeches about panama leaks and corruption. Other PTI members have also spoken on this in Parliment. But when the PM is the one who is being accused, what are the chances of PMLN majority parliment actually doing anything?

Example: 2000 million or 2 billion is the amount of money that was spent on Mayfair flats when Mian saab paid zero taxes. IK is simply asking NS to show proof. As far as Niazi enterprises is concerned, the government should have prosecuted Kan and still has the authority to do that.

@Riaz . What evidence do you have that they are involved in corruption. IF IK is so concerned about the country, he should start with PPP lead Zardari who is a billionaire. He inherited an old movie theater in Karachi from his father. Now owns properties all over the world worth millions of dollars. Having a foreign account is not a proof of corruption. IK also has accounts in England too. IK is making lot of noise over nothing and the Chinese government is concerned. He should never be allowed to block highways and disrupt traffic in the capital city because such acts create chaos /lawlessness in the country and investors run away. If he has any proof of corruption, he should file a case in the supreme court.

just out curiosity.. aren't the general elections in 2018? that is about 1 year ago before people will start campaigning. why cause all of this craziness when Pakistan has India to deal with, CPEC, Afghanistan to deal with, terrorism, refugees, economic issues, etc. And again, if the PTI does not believe that any institution in Pakistan is legitimate, (except itself), who can trust that Party to lead Pakistan (if they do not respect and follow any institution). Let nawaz finish his term and PTI and IK can get their revenge at the polls.

@Nomi Goraya I don't think you have a full understanding of the problems Pakistan is facing regarding governance, rules of law and corruption. Parliament and state institutions are heavily politicized, therefore nothing right can come out of it, as they are not performing their duties honestly. Therefore the whole political system needs to be cleansed, so that we see the introduction of a new system of good governance, transparency, accountability, rule of law and merit, with institutions functioning independently. Although I am not a member of any political party, I feel only PTI is struggling whole heartedly for rectifying the present corrupt and ineffective political system.

IK I want to vote 4 y. But first prove me your abilities as in KP by showing progress. I would not vote just because you r a bigger bully. Progress-corruption = total points is how I guage. You may have 0 on corruption scale but you still need significant points on progress side specially in KP before winning my heart. Regardless I will still love you for what you have done in cricket for PK and hospital.
