BADIN, Oct 3: District Nazim, Badin, Kamal Khan Chang warned the police to complete investigation and unearth the body of Ghulam Ali within three days, else punitive action would be taken against involved officials. Ghulam Ali had allegedly died while being grilled by the Badin police the other day sparking protests by the Khaskhelis in Badin and Matli. According to sources, an inquiry has also been ordered to ascertain the facts regarding the death of Ghulam Ali in custody.

Badin police chief suspended SHO Matli Nandlal and a constable Guddo Mallah and appointed DSP Matli, Noor Ali Mari, as inquiry officer into the matter.

SSP Badin, captain (Retd) Tahir Naveed told this correspondent on Wednesday that enquiry was being conducted on the demand of Khuda Bux (detainee), brother of Ghulam Ali, and an information report was filed with police but no FIR since been registered as Khuda Bux refused to put signature on it. He further said any of the relative of Ghulam Ali would come forward to register the case, more facts would be surfaced. When asked whether police was not prepared to get the FIR registered on behalf of state if no one comes forward, he said, it was next step, when the sufficient proofs could come on. However, he again denied the death of Ghulam Ali in police custody.

Earlier the Badin police chief had said that Khan Khaskheli was alive under police custody for interrogation in a kidnapping case and running of pathari, while his accomplice Saleh Lohar was also under arrest in this case for investigation. When this correspondent enquired about the custody of an alleged accused Ghulam Ali Khaskheli, the brother of alleged dacoit Saleh Khaskheli, who died in custody due to severe police torture, he denied his arrest.

RALLY: On the other hand a protest rally was held by Khaskheli Jamaat at Matli, on Tuesday. Addressing the rally, the general secretary of the Jamaat, Muhammad Ismail Khaskheli, said that police was concealing the facts regarding the death of Ghulam Ali Khaskheli, who was allegedly produced before Matli police by an influential landlord.

He claimed that Ghulam Ali was tortured to death by the police. The protesters demanded arrest of the police officials involved in the murder of Ghulam Ali.
