MIRPURKHAS: Five notables of the Shar community were booked on Tuesday on the charge of holding a jirga (tribal court) to settle a dispute between two rival groups belonging to the community.

An FIR (44/16) against Amanullah, Kareem Bukhsh, Hazoor Bukhsh, Ghulam Nabi and Dur Muhammad was registered at the Phuladiyoon police station on behalf of the state.

It was stated in the FIR that the suspects held a jirga and imposed a fine on certain members of their community to settle a dispute between two rival groups belonging to the Shar community.

No arrests were made till late in the evening.

DADU: A jirga presided over by Noohani clan chieftain Sardar Hakim Ali Noohani in the Dadu district council hall on Tuesday settled a six-month-old murder dispute between the Solangi and Mallah clans.

The two sides pleaded their respective cases over the murder of Akbar Solangi, who was allegedly shot dead during a clash between them over a quarrel involving their children.

Pronouncing his ruling, Sardar Noohani ordered Rafique Mallah and other members of his community nominated by the rival side as his accomplices to pay a fin/compensation of Rs2.8 million to the bereaved family within the next six months.

Both sides accepted the ruling and the Mallahs undertook to pay the fine within the stipulated time.

The two sides announced an end to their hostility.
