ISLAMABAD, Dec 9: A large number of Pakistani businessmen are expected to participate in the international investment conference being organized by Bosnia & Herzegovina (BiH) on February 26-27.

According to a press release of the embassy of BiH issued here on Tuesday, the government of BiH has requested President Gen Pervez Musharraf to send a large contingent of businessmen to attend the conference.

Specifying the attractive areas of investments, the press release said, infrastructure (road construction, telecommunication, electric power production - hydro and thermal plants), agriculture etc., are the fields where foreign investors have a great scope of profitability.

Dilating upon the details of the conference, the press release quoted the BiH ambassador, Avdo-Abdullah Hodzic, as saying that the first part of the conference’s work would be plenary and common for all participants, while the second part of the conference will include different relevant topics as: monetary and banking system, infrastructure, industry and electric power, agricultural-food sector, tourism etc.

The conference has an international significance and will promote and encourage economic growth and development, and representatives of numerous foreign companies, embassies, business associations and other institutions will be present.

This will be an occasion for direct mutual communication among possible business partners and members of the government and business community, Mr Hodzic added.

The international organizations in BiH that also supported the conference are: The World Bank (WB), the USAID, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Investment Bank, the office of the High Representative in BiH (OHR) and many diplomatic-consular agencies, said Mr Hodzic.
