GUJRAT: The district government has planned to get a status of sub-tehsil for Kotla Arab Ali Khan which is currently a part of Kharian tehsil.

Official sources said PML-N lawmakers from the area MNA Abid Raza and his brother MPA Shabbir Ahmed had already offered the land in the centre of town for the establishment of the sub-tehsil complex.

Gujrat DCO Liaquat Ali Chattha says the matter is yet to be forwarded to the provincial board of revenue and other authorities in the Punjab government, although the district government has prepared a feasibility report in this regard.

MPA Ahmed said the proposal had already been under-consideration in view of hardships of the area people as they had to travel at least 25km to reach Kharian for the resolution of their land revenue issues.

He said the provincial government had earlier spent Rs65 million for the beautification of Kotla and now Rs60m more had been approved for the purpose.
