KARACHI, Dec 9: Justice Mushir Alam of High Court of Sindh on Tuesday suspended his earlier order for one week on an application by Karachi Port Trust against the release of MT Sea Angel.

The order came in an application moved by the KPT. Counsel for the applicant prayed to the court to suspend its order passed earlier on Dec 5, stating that the applicant is contemplating to prefer an appeal before the appellate forum.

The bench allowed the application, suspended its order with direction that in case applicant/defendant do not succeed in appeal, it shall pay for cost of each day to the plaintiff, Global Tradeways Ltd.

The impugned order was passed on a suit filed by plaintiff against TSavliris Russ (World Salvage and Towage Ltd) and KPT. The plaintiff maintained that the KPT, a defendant in the suit has detained the ship on the ground that plaintiff’s vessel has to pay port dues.
