Confiscation of milch animals ordered

Published December 9, 2003

RAWALPINDI, Dec 8: Tehsil Nazim Raja Hamid Nawaz has ordered confiscation of all milch animals found in the city limits and registration of cases against the owners.

In a meeting with the Tehsil Municipal Administration officers, the Nazim expressed concern over the reports that milch animals were being brought back to the city and ordered the sanitation department to check the trend.

He said the practice was violative of the superior court orders and those responsible would be subjected to disciplinary action. Buffaloes caught within the city limits would not be returned, he warned. About the expulsion of tongas, he said he was closely monitoring the situation and would take action against the owners of tongas and push-carts working without a valid license. Action will even be taken against those shopkeepers who block roads while loading or unloading goods from vehicles in congested bazaars, he said.

Similarly, the entry of push-carts will not be permitted in Raja Bazaar, Trunk Bazaar, Mochi Bazaar, Liaquat Road area, Sabzimandi and Bohar Bazaar between 10am and 6pm, the Nazim said. He asked the traders to follow these timings while transporting goods to their business outlets. Those violating these rules will face confiscation of their goods and push-carts, he warned.
