Overhead bridge

Published September 30, 2016

THE hardships encountered by motorists, including drivers of ambulances, at Bara Kaho in Islamabad cannot be described in words. It is a nightmare caused by super heavy traffic snarls because of slower than the snail-paced traffic around the clock.

The government has constructed a pedestrian bridge which does not provide an iota of relief to frustrated drivers. It is still incomplete. The minister in charge of Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) is not accessible even to his supporters, who are deeply and understandably agitated.

I request Mayor Sheikh Ansar to at least consider the PC1-approved project of the overhead bridge. If spurned, the people can resort to peaceful protest even at the cost of being thrashed by official goons.

This overpass is not likely to see the light of day in my life but the younger generation does deserve some tangible relief. My passion to serve public interest will, however, outlast all hurdles and handicaps erected in the way of my predestined journey to where all of us are heading.

Meanwhile, as long as there is hope, life wins and death loses with or without the said overpass.
