Pakistan routs West Indies by 8 wickets to sweep T20 series

ABU DHABI: Pakistan downed world champions West Indies in the third and final Twenty20 international by eight wickets in Abu Dhabi, achieving their first-ever clean sweep in the shortest format on Tuesday.

Left-arm spinner Imad Wasim chipped in with three for 21 — nine wickets in the series — as West Indies crawled to 103-5 in their 20 overs after Pakistan won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Marlon Samuels scored 42 not out while Kieron Pollard made an unbeaten 16.

Pakistan wipes off the target in 15.1 overs, with Shoaib Malik (43 not out) and Babar Azam scoring an unbeaten 27.

Pakistan won the first two matches by nine wickets and 16 runs respectively — both in Dubai.

The two teams will now play a three-match one-day series starting in Sharjah on Friday.

WI are a weird team. They are world champions imagine and can't put bat to ball here ! At home in the Caribbean, they are slightly better at T20s. What kind of a format is this? World Champions because of four shots played in the final over of WC final. Else they can't put bat to ball.

Too easy. West Indies were as poor or Pakistan was as good that it turned out to be a boring T20 series. Pakistan will canter to a clean sweep in test and hopefully 3-0 win in ODIs too to get some rating points and also drag West Indies down too.

Well played and Congratulations to Pakistan team. Despite winning the series Sarfraz replaced Wahab and Hasan with Amir and Raees which paid off big time as team won more convincingly in the third match. Now we need to win all ODIs matches also to qualify for next ODI WC...

Well done. Bowlers were superb throughout esp. Imad. Like Afridi he is skiddy but more accurate and most of his deliveries keep low accounting for the high % of bowled outs. West Indies were disappointing with the bat. I was expecting some fireworks in the last 5 overs with 5 wickets remaining. Very strange batting display. Need to focus on ODIs equally The pressure is now on Azhar to deliver as captain although to be fair to him he has done well with the bat.

@Mahen PAK had beaten WI 2_0 in WI in 2013 and SA 1_1 and 1_0 in SA also. Didn't get a chance to play in AUS. So appreciate performance when it is to be rather than keeping same old trend of begrudging.
