BADIN: 17 hurt in accident

BADIN, Dec 8: Seventeen persons, including five women and five children, were injured when a speedy truck overturned after its rear tyres burst on Sunday night.

Lachhman Kartoo, Lachhmy, Chetan, Ms Cheetoo, Ms Memy, Tarma, Fatima, Karmoon, Thakar, Sawan, Tulsi, Shanoo and five others were injured as the truck (LSB-7071) overturned near the Sanaullah petrol pump.

They were taken to the Badin Civil Hospital.

Two families of farm labourers after harvesting crops in lands of a landlord in Chak-20, Shaheed Fazil Rahu taluka, had hired the truck for Umerkot.

The truck driver escaped.

BURNT: A man, Dilshad Khaskheli, burnt alive as a fire broke out in a sugarcane field in which he had taken shelter after quarrelling with Ahmad Khaskheli and injuring him near New Dumbalo, Matli taluka, some 66 kilometres off here, on Sunday.

The cause of the fire could not be ascertained.

The injured man was taken to the Hyderabad Civil Hospital.
