KARACHI: Seven teams including Pakistan will vie for honours in the fourth Asia Cup under-18 hockey tournament which begins in Dhaka on Saturday.

In the absence of defending champions South Korea and runners-up Malaysia, former champions Pakistan and India look formidable to battle it out for supremacy.

According to the information available here, the teams have been divided into two pools and top two from each will qualify for the semi-finals after completion of the league matches.

The semi-finals will be played on Sept 29 while the final takes place the following day.

Pakistan recently pla­yed a four-match home series against visiting Oman and won it 3-0 with the opening game ending in a 2-2 draw.

Groups:

Pool A: India, Oman, Bangladesh.

Pool B: Pakistan, China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong

Schedule:

Sept 24: China v Hong Kong, Pakistan v Chinese Taipei, India v Bangladesh.

Sept 25: Chinese Taipei v Hong Kong, Pakistan v China, Oman v India.

Sept 26: Rest day.

Sept 27: Chinese Taipei v China, Pakistan v Hong Kong, Bangladesh v Oman.

Sept 28: Rest day.

Sept 29: 3rd pool A v fourth pool B, 1st pool A v 2nd pool B, 1st pool B v 2nd pool A.

Sept 30: 5th-6th position match, 3rd-4th position match, 1st-2nd position match.
