TAXILA: The tehsil health department on Sunday registered FIRs against 13 people after dengue larvae were found on their properties, which were also sealed.

The anti-dengue surveillance team also sealed 13 commercial properties in various parts of the city including junkyards, tyre shops service stations and booked their owners, though only 10 of them were arrested.

According to Israr Ahmed, the in-charge of the dengue surveillance team, the team is working in different zones of the city in order to eliminate dengue larvae.

Chairing a meeting with anti-dengue staff, Assistant Commissioner Shahid Imran said the Tehsil Municipal Administration and teams from the health department have launched an indoor and outdoor surveillance campaign across the city. He said that since dengue cases were still emerging, the teams have been instructed to increase surveillance.

The assistant commissioner added that the teams had removed old tyres, scrap and stagnant water from many places in the city that could have served as potential breeding sites.
