New PCB boss soon: Musharraf

Published December 7, 2003

LAHORE, Dec 6: President Gen Pervez Musharraf has said that he will soon appoint Gen Tauqir Zia’s successor to head the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Talking to reporters here on Saturday, he said Gen Tauqir had tendered his resignation and he accepted it.

President Gen Musharraf commended Gen Tauqir’s efforts to make the PCB financially sound and develop cricket academies, grounds, flood-lit grounds and electronic scoreboards all over the country.

Now, he said, there was a need to carry forward these developments to further improve the game.

Tauqir resigned last Monday after having been chairman PCB ad hoc committee since December 1999.
