PM leaves for France today

ISLAMABAD, Dec 6: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali will leave for Paris on Sunday for official visits to France and Switzerland, say officials.

He would perform an Ummra at the end of his week- long tour, they said.

Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar, Minister for Information Technology Owais Leghari, In-charge Minister for Science and Technology, Dr Attaur Rehman and Foreign Secretary Riaz Khokar are accompanying the prime minister on the visit.

The prime minister would arrive in Paris on Dec 8 at the start of the two-day-long official visit to France for talks with the French leadership, likely to focus on promoting bilateral relation, specially the trade and commercial ties.

Prime Minister Jamali would hold talks with his French counterpart Jean Pierre-Raffarin on Dec 9.

He wuold also meet French Defence Minister Michele Alliot- Marie, president of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly Edouard Balladur and Unesco’s Director-General Koichiro Matsuura.

The Prime Minister would hold a meeting with French businessmen and entrepreneurs on Dec 8, highlighting prospects of investment in Pakistan.

Prime Minister Jamali would leave for Geneva on Dec 9 to attend the Information Society’s World Summit, being organized by the International Telecommunication Union in collaboration with the United Nations. He would address the summit on Dec 10.

The Prime Minister Jamali would also hold bilateral meetings with Iranian President Syed Ali Khatmi and President of the Swiss Confederation on the summit’s sidelines.

He would arrive in Jeddah on Dec 11 to perform Ummra besides offering Friday prayers in Madina on Dec 12. The prime minister would leave for home on the same day.—APP
