HYDERABAD, Dec 5: The administration of the Cadet College, Petaro, has made the villagers of Goth Jam Tamachi Samoon and Goth Mallah homeless by demolishing their houses and raising a boundary wall around Goth Tamachi on Friday.

The villagers said that a large number of houses and other structures were bulldozed even though they had put up strong resistance against it.

In protest, the villagers led by the union council Nazim, Unnarpur, and councillors held a protest sit-in at the gates of the college. They raised slogans against the college administration.

Soon law enforcement agencies started patrolling the area.

The elders of the villages have announced to hold a protest demonstration on the Indus Highway on Saturday.

Jam Tamachi Samoon and Ghulam Nabi Samoon told this correspondent on the telephone that at least 50 houses and other structures had been demolished.

It may be recalled here that the cases of both the parties about the ownership of the disputed land are pending in court.

A Mukhtiarkar had been deputed by the court concerned to carry out a survey of the land on Thursday but he has not arrived as yet.

DEMO: A large number of former employees of Zeal Pak cement factory and activists of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, Tando Agha unit, staged a protest demonstration outside the press club on Friday against the non-payment of outstanding dues to the factory employees.

Speaking on the occasion, former employee Ikramuddin, JSQM leader Mohammad Aslam Sindhi and others said the employees would continue their struggle for an indefinite period if the outstanding dues amounting to millions of rupees were not paid.

Meanwhile, a group of factory employees continued their hunger strike on the 39th consecutive day on Friday.

notices: The Building Control Department has issued notices to 15 builders, sponsors and owners of various projects, urging them to deposit their remaining instalments to obtain clearance certificates from the department.

The department warned that in case arrears were not cleared, the NOCs would be cancelled and legal action would be taken against them.
