The founder of seized Megaupload websites Kim Dotcom has formally requested the New Zealand court to live-stream the hearing on YouTube to safeguard public interest and ensuring transparency, BBC reported.

Dotcom’s lawyer Ron Mansfield briefed the court the injustices faced by Dotcom and his three colleagues.

The United States, a party in the case, has opposed the proposal requested by the internet tycoon.

In January 2012, United States Government seized the Megaupload.com and several other domain names registered with the enterprise.

Other domain names seized include including Megastuff.co, Megaclicks.org, Megaworld.mobi, Megaupload.com, Megaupload.org, and Megavideo.com.

Public prosecutor accused the file sharing website to cost a loss of more than $500 million to various copyright holders.

The seized domains initially served caution that they had been seized by the US authorities. However, one of the domains seized by the FBI is hosting pornographic advertisements. The news site Torrentfreak reported that and unknown party has hijacked the domain while it is register to FBI.

The hearing held on Monday at Auckland High Court is an appeal of the District Court decision, who concluded that Dotcom and his three colleagues namely Batato, Ortman and can der Kilk could be extradited to United States to faces the charges of copyright infringement, racketeering and money laundering.

Dotcom’s lawyer claimed that the site should not be held responsible for the actions of its users and alleged that his client did not get a fair hearing last year.

Ron Mansfield pleaded that case has raised “unprecedented issues of public and international interest” hence hearing should streamed at YouTube for international audience.

He also proposed that there could be a 10 minute delay to online stream to let the court avoid any susceptible details being broadcast .

The High Court Judge, Justice Murray Gilbert, raised his concerns about the fact that the request had not been made in advance by the defense counsel but he stated that he wanted to hear the opinion of NewZealand’s local media outlets before proceeding to a decision.

Dotcom also announced the updated file sharing websites, Megaupload 2.0 and Bitcache will be launched soon.
