Kyrgyzstan trounce Pakistan

BISHKEK (Kyrgyzstan), Dec 3: Kyrgyzstan defeated Pakistan 4-0 in the second leg of their preliminary World Cup play on Wednesday to secure a berth in the Asian qualifying competition for the 2006 tournament.

Kyrgyzstan had beaten Pakistan 2-0 in the first leg on Nov 29.

The home side dominated the game and Sergei Chikishev opened the scoring on a powerful drive from just inside the penalty box 15 minutes into the game.

Vladimir Chertkov converted a penalty kick in the 28th when Yevgeny Boldygin was tackled in the area.

Boldygin made it 3-0 in the 67th minute and Andrei Krasnov completed the rout scoring from close range in the fading seconds of regulation.—APP/AP
