Man shot dead; six of family injured

FAISALABAD, Dec 3: A man was killed while six of his family members sustained injuries when six people opened fire on them in Sohal village over a property dispute in Thikriwala police limits on Wednesday.

Habib, along with Anis, Iftikhar, Javed and two unidentified accomplices opened fire on Advocate Rana Salim and his family members as a result of which his brother Tariq was killed on the spot while he himself, Shahid Salim, Tahir Salim, Iftikhar Ahmad, Akmal and a woman sustained bullet wounds. The injured were admitted to the Allied Hospital where their condition was stated to be stable.

Tariq is the cousin of communications secretary Iftikhar Rashid.

Police have registered a case against the absconding accused.

arrested: Ghulam Muhammadabad police arrested on Tuesday night one of the alleged attackers of PML-N MPA Sheikh Ijaz Ahmad.

A police team raided a house in Razaabad and arrested Raja Saqib alias Lucky while his accomplice Raja Amir managed to escape. A case was registered against them on charge of attacking and injuring MPA Sheikh Ijaz on October 13.

The police produced him before judicial magistrate and got three-day remand.

It is alleged that the suspects attacked Sheikh Ijaz about a month ago at the behest of PML-N MNA Raja Nadir Pervaiz. They could not be arrested as they got bail before arrests from a local court.
