BADIN, Dec 2: The local growers have complained about water shortage at the tail-ends of Raj Wah, Noor Wah, Ganj Bahar, Soomarki and other water channels and demanded judicious distribution of water.

Talking to journalists here on Tuesday, Ismail Chandio, Ibrahim Shah, Vikio and others said that tail-end growers were facing water shortage for long, causing destruction of their standing crops.

They claimed that around 80,000 acres of land could not be cultivated this season in the district due to water shortage at tail-ends of the channels.

As a result, the farmers said, they could not even meet food requirements of their families.

Accusing the irrigation officials of creating artificial water shortage, they regretted that the government had failed to punish water thieves and corrupt irrigation officials despite repeated claims.

The growers demanded that water supply should be immediately restored to the tail-ends of the above water channels.

WORKSHOP: A one-day workshop on “Lactation Management and Promotion of Breast Feeding” was held at the nursing school here on Tuesday.
