ISLAMABAD/HYDERABAD: Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Friday held Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan responsible for the deteriorating law and order situation in the country.

“Maintaining law and order and providing security to the people is the responsibility and primary job of Chaudhry Nisar, however, he has failed to do so,” Shah said in a statement.

Responding to Nisar’s press conference, in which he had accused opposition parties of political point scoring after Queatta blast, the opposition leader said the interior minister should admit his failure instead of blaming others.

“If Chaudhry Nisar had an ounce of moral courage, he would have resigned by now,” Shah said, adding that “how can an interior minister blame others for deteriorating law and order situation”.

He alleged that Nisar has been lying to the people of Pakistan in order to hide his mistakes and failures as interior minister. “He doesn’t have the moral courage to accept his failure in maintaining law and order in the country,” the opposition leader claimed.

Shah said “the people are being killed by terrorists and country is at the verge of destruction, while the interior minister is busy in accusing others”.

“Nisar cannot fool the nation by holding press conferences and levelling allegations on opposition parties,” he maintained.

Nisar, holding a press conference earlier in the day, had alleged “the opposition staged a drama on Thursday and walked out from National Assembly session to pressurise the prime minister”.

The interior minister also questioned “the link between model Ayyan and Pakistan People’s Party”.

“Why a counsel of Pakistan People’s Party is contesting Ayyan’s case free of cost,” Nisar asked.

'PML-N creating controversies when it needs friends'

Sindh Chief Minister's Adviser on Information Maula Bux Chandio said whenever the national security faces any threat it’s the army chief who addresses the nation, instead of federal government, which reflects the failure of the incumbent PML-N government.

He warned that PML-N is creating controversies in the times when it needs friends.

Chandio, while addressing a gathering in Hyderabad, asked Chaudhry Nisar to explain the status of seminaries’ reforms in the country promised by his government and why National Counter Terrorism Authority (Nacta) has not been made functional to date.

He complained that federal interior minister gets personal while issuing statements against political leadership.

Chaudhry Nisar earlier took a jibe at PPP chairman saying “air tickets for Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and model Ayyan were purchased from the same account”.

Chandio said PPP doesn’t feel offended by statements against Ayyan and Dr Asim Hussain, but such statements reflect Nisar's political acumen.
