FIR drop-boxes at post offices soon

Published December 3, 2003

KARACHI, Dec 2: The postal department would soon place FIR drop-boxes at different post offices where completed forms could be dropped by the complainants.

A spokesman for the police department said on Tuesday that the post master general has agreed to issue instructions to the post office staff for placing drop boxes at the post offices where FIR forms can be dropped by the complainants.

A decision to this effect was taken after discussions between the DIG Operations and the post master general Mohammad Ahmed Mian.

The police department has advised the general public that if they have any complaint regarding non-availability of FIR forms, they can dial the Madadgar-15 which will provide the necessary assistance.

The police helpline would guide the complainant so that he or she does not have to visit the police station for filing the FIR, the spokesman added.

Meanwhile, the spokesman clarified the situation regarding the availability of the FIR forms at the post offices.

According to the spokesman, 10,000 FIR forms were placed at 143 post offices in the 19 towns in February 2003.

These forms are still available at these post offices and Madadgar centre, the spokesman said.
