SIALKOT: The body of a missing minor was found on Wednesday in the fields near his house in Hail Bajwaan village, Phookaliyaan.

Farmer Nadeem’s five-year-old son Abdullah had gone missing two days ago while playing in front of his house.

Nadeem claimed the family had informed police that some unidentified men kidnapped his son, but the Phookaliyaan police could not trace the suspects or recover the child. Some villagers retrieved the body of the child in the fields.

Police claimed some men had strangled Abdullah and disposed of his body in the fields. They handed over the body to the family after autopsy for burial.

The family started a protest by placing Abdullah’s body on the road in their village. They shouted anti-police slogans and demanded Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Inspector General of Police Mushtaq Sukhera ensure early arrest of the suspected kidnappers.

Later, Abdullah was laid to rest in his native graveyard.

DPO Abid Khan said police had arrested a suspect and registered a case, adding further investigation was under way.
