BAHAWALPUR: The district government has put on display a vintage car (made in 1930-35) that belongs to the late Nawab of Bahawalpur Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi-V, at the Bahawalpur museum.

The display of the vintage car and a steam engine of 1938, which was shifted from Panjnad Headworks few years back, is the part of celebrations of Independence Day.

Museum officials told Dawn The Ford Woody Van with the registration No BWP-546 (of defunct Bahawalpur state) has the wooden body. It was the part of Nawab’s Motorkhana (motorcade).

The Nawab would pay special attention to the maintenance of his motor squad.

Dawn learned that the vintage car was earlier parked in the museum and now Commissioner Saqib Zafar had decided to display it for the public.

District Coordination Officer Dr Ehtesham Anwar Mahar said the display was a kind of homage to the late Nawab.
