Shopkeepers arrested

FAISALABAD, Dec 1: Police arrested eight shopkeepers for selling lottery tickets in different parts of the city on Sunday night.

Police arrested Mohammad Hasan from Abdullahpur, Mohammad Ali from Rail Bazaar, Nisar and Akram from Ghulam Muhammadabad, Shafiq from D-Type Colony, Zaheer Ahmad from Jaranwala, Shahbaz from Tariqabad and Naveed from Madina Chowk.

BOOKED: The Anti-Corruption Establishment has booked 16 employees of different government departments on charges of fraud, forgery and taking gratification.

The cases have been registered on the orders of ACE additional director Rai Mohammad Amin after a preliminary interrogation conducted by the officials concerned.

Police sub-inspectors Mohammad Anwar and Naseer, Gardawar Haq Nawaz and patwaris Qaisar Abbas and Mohammad Zafar have been booked for taking bribe.

Excise inspector Chaudhry Mohammad Akram has been booked for fraud while driver Shahid of the Population Welfare Department and clerk Arshad Husain of the Agriculture Department have been booked for taking gratification.

Corruption cases have been registered against junior clerk Zahid Husain of the Population Department, patwari Nawaz, Irshad Husain and Iqbal, block officer Mohammad Yar, forest guards Qasim Jameel and Manzoor Husain and forester Mohammad Hasan Shah also for receiving illegal gratification.
