KARACHI: The CNG Dealers Association, All Pakistan CNG Association, CNG Owners Association and CNG Forum on Thursday announced that they would be converting sales of Compressed Natural Gas in Sindh to litres from kilograms effective from Aug 6.

According to a joint statement issued by the heads of the four associations, it has been recommended to them by Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, at their delegation’s meeting with him during their visit to Islamabad on Wednesday, to sell and measure CNG in the province in litres.

“The minister was kind enough to provide his consent on the conversion on to litres as the CNG stations in Punjab are already selling gas in litres,” the statement said.

Speaking to Dawn, Abdul Sami Khan, chairman of the CNG Dealers Association said that the difference from kilograms to litres would mean “a very slight increase” for buyers. “The change means, we will be charging the same for CNG as is charged for it in Punjab. It is a very slight increase in CNG prices,” he said.

“But this slight increase, too, will soon be covered and equalised when in about one month, vehicle owners will be able to buy Liquefied Natural Gas instead of CNG at all the gas stations here.”
