KATHMANDU, Dec 1: At least 25 Maoists and a security man were killed in several clashes in Nepal, while the rebels killed two civilians, officials and sources said on Monday.

An employee of a German-funded project, Durga Thapa, was killed on Sunday outside his home in the Kharigainda area of the western Dailekh district, an army source said.

Mr Thapa was a supervisor at a road-building project in Kharigainda, aided by the German Technical Cooperation, a German government-owned corporation.

“The Maoists had accused supervisor Thapa of being an informer to the security forces,” the source said.

Another civilian, Khem Raj Neupane, was shot dead on Saturday night by guerillas in the southwestern Bardiya district, he added.

An army statement said 25 rebels and one member of the security forces were killed between Saturday and Monday in several clashes.—AFP
