LAHORE, Nov 30: The army rulers sabotaged a peace process with India through the Kargil operation when politicians launched it, but now they were adopting the same route under the US pressure, claimed PML-N Punjab President Sirdar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, he said: “The only difference between the two initiatives is that the politicians were doing it on their own and with dignity, but the ruling army elite is doing so with humiliation.”
The bloody Kargil operation was launched to scuttle the Lahore Declaration, but now the army junta was adopting the same route to prolong its rule, he alleged.
Meanwhile, Khwaja Saad Rafiq, secretary-general of the PML-N, said people had suffered the most under the regime of Mr Jamali and were demanding a change in government.
He said the government was so scared of the PML-N that it had detained its leaders even after grant of bails.
Those, who had been supporting President Pervez Musharraf only to prolong his rule, would not be able to stand a public trial, whenever it was conducted, warned the PML-N leader.
