ISLAMABAD, Nov 30: Members of the Indian chapter of Young Presidents Organization on Sunday said they were deeply touched by President Gen Pervez Musharraf’s “frank” and “candid” views for peace and socio-economic development in the region.

“Your accent and proposals for peace in the region have struck a deep chord in our hearts,” said Sukku Shah, a YPO member from Mumbai, while thanking the president for hosting them and affording an opportunity to listen to him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.

He said the president’s call for embracing enlightened moderation for durable peace in the world “has both words and wisdom of a true statesman.”

Pashupati Advani, an Indian businessman, said the president’s words were heartening and that the members of the Indian chapter will go back to their country and spread his words in the business community.

Ali Gohal, also from Mumbai, described the president’s address as enlightening and encouraging. “It was enlightening, just as good for us Indians — we were glad to listen to the president’s frank and candid views,” he said.

Tariq Ansari, another member of the Indian delegation, said he was impressed by his clear stress on peace and development of the region.—APP
