PESHAWAR: Pakistan People’s Party has flayed the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-led provincial government for its ‘failure’ to turn around the pathetic condition at the public sector hospitals.

PPP former provincial secretary information Liaquat Shabab told media persons here on Saturday that despite tall claims by Imran Khan to bring a positive change in the lives of people the menace of corruption was ‘increasing’ in the province.

He recalled that four years ago a policy had been devised for purchase of medicines and other necessary equipments for hospitals but the PTI-led government replaced the policy with a new one. He said after seeing that the new policy didn’t work, the government was reviving the previous policy which proved that the rulers in KP were inefficient and unable to ensure good governance.

The PPP leader alleged that some officials in the health department were hand in glove with various medicines’ companies and prepared lists of the medicines wherein they could earn maximum commissions.

He said the medicines coordination cell was running successfully but the government changed the process and now the people associated with it were putting their personal interests over welfare of patients.

Mr Shabab asked PTI chairman Imran Khan to take notice of the pathetic condition of hospitals and ask KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak as to why he was not ‘following’ the party’s manifesto.

He said education and health were major issues in the province but the government had failed to bring any positive change in both the sectors due to induction of ‘incompetent’ people.

He also demanded of NAB to take notice of the deteriorating situation of public sector hospitals so poor patients would not suffer any longer.
