Two alleged women smugglers held

KASUR, Nov 29: Two women were arrested with 3 kgs of hashish and 40 bottles of liquor, Chunian police claimed on Saturday.

On a tip-off, a police team raided a house and recovered 3 kgs of hashish, 40 bottles of liquor and Rs2,200 from the possession of Parveen, alias Pino, and Shedo Gujjari.

The women reportedly told the police that they had been selling hashish and liquor under the patronage of one Khadim who escaped from the scene.

Further investigations are under way.

SUICIDES: Two young people committed suicide in the district on Saturday.

A young girl allegedly took poison at her house in Dhose Chunian village over a dispute with the family. She died on the spot.

Azam, 17, allegedly shot himself when his parents refused to marry him with a girl of his choice. He died in his house at Gagga village Chak 29, Pattoki Saddar area.

SHOT DEAD: A man was murdered by his rivals in Dhing Shah village of Khuddian.

Police said Nazir Ahmad and his five accomplices entered the outhouse of Shafi who was asleep. The attackers shot him dead and fled from the scene.

Khuddian police registered a case on the report of Shafi’s son Akram.
