UN observers visit border villages

SIALKOT, Nov 29: Permanent UN observers visited villages along Indian border on Saturday after the ceasefire.

According to official sources, they assessed the situation after the ceasefire and verified loss to the villagers.

Sources said the UN observers recommended a special relief package for the affected villagers besides ensuring some positive and effective measures for permanent peace.

The UN observers had visited these villages five days ago.

MUSHAIRA: A Mehfil-i-Mushaira was held at the Sialkot Press Club in the honour of poet, educationist and Pakistan Movement worker Prof Asghar Saudai.

Poets from all over the country participated in the Mushaira and paid rich tributes to Prof Asghar.

FALL UNCONCIOUS: Three people fell unconscious after drinking poisonous liquor in Nia Mianapura locality here on Saturday.

Aslam, Bashir and Khalid reportedly purchased liquor from a bootlegger at low rates to celebrate Eid. They were rushed to hospital where doctors saved their lives. — Correspondent
