KARACHI, Nov 29: Carpeting and repairing of Mauripur Road from ICI Bridge to Gulbai Chowk will be completed before December 12 parking on both sides of the road would be prohibited to avoid any hindrance during the ongoing development work at the site.

The decisions were announced by City Nazim Naimatullah Khan while inspecting the development work along Mauripur Road. DCO Mir Hussain Ali, EDO Works and Services Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, MD of the KWSB Brig Asif Ghazali, Adviser to the City Nazim Salim Azhar, GMs of Northern By-pass Mobin Ahmed and Col Waheed, and Project Director Tufail Sheikh were also present on the occasion.

It was decided that carpeting of the completed section of Mauripur Road would be carried out forthwith and the road would be reopened for vehicular traffic.

The City Nazim talked to the Chairman of the National Highways Authority, Maj-Gen Farrukh Javed by telephone and informed him of the decisions.

The NHA chief would be convening a meeting of the relevant officials to review the work on Mauripur Road.

Naimatullah Khan suggested to the NHA chairman that a double track be built for the Northern By-pass from Shershah to Super Highway as the planned single track might create risk of accidents.

Maj-Gen Farrukh Javed assured the Nazim that the proposal would be implemented after completion of the single track. — PPI
